Introduction
 
Mindan is an ethnic organization, composed of Korean residents in Japan, and based on ethnic identity. Furthermore, Mindan is a social organization, driving movements a) to stop racial discrimination, b) to protect the rights of the minorities and the social weak, c) to achieve freedom and justice by extending human rights.
Voluntary organization of the zainichi
Mindan is an organization voluntarily made to protect the self-existence, and the rights of the zainichi. In legal standards, Mindan is classified as 'voluntary organization'.
 
General organization of the zainichi
Mindan is a general organization, opened for every zainichi.
 
Nonprofit public organization
Mindan is a nonprofit organization, driving movements to protect the legal, political, and social rights of the zainichi, and activities to enrich the ethnic education and culture for all Korean compatriots in Japan.
